Who we are
Universal Soccer League is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting a safe and unified environment to the local community. As such, the sport of soccer is utilized as a tool to accomplish this purpose. Moreover, factors such as race, color, sex, religion, or nationality do not matter in accomplishing this goal.
The Universal Soccer League program focuses on building personal skills for its players in areas of: organization, discipline and competition. Additionally, a non-competitive level that teaches new-comers the sport of soccer is offered. Universal Soccer League plays year round, participating in different tournaments throughout the year. Furthermore, Universal Soccer League prides itself in identifying players with high potential, training them, and providing them with the tools necessary to become professional athletes.
Universal Soccer League was first established in 1997 by the Bohorquez family. The Bohorquez family has committed to establishing strong soccer and citizenship skills in young players. The League started with only 12 teams, by the end of 1998 40 teams were being served. The average number of teams since 1997 has been 60, and the highest was about 120 teams. The age brackets range from five year olds to 18 year olds. The staff consists of knowledgeable personnel, as well as, licensable coaches and referees. Universal Soccer League is supported by professional soccer advisors including: Cle Kooiman (USA National Team Captain ’94), Roberto Siboldi (Uruguay National Team), Jaime Jaramillo (Mexico Club Toluca), and other ex-professional soccer players that have helped the league in various ways. In addition, the league counts on different professional players to visit and provide small clinics or chats with league players. As such, Professional athletes that have participated in such clinics consist of: Guillermo “El Pando” Rodriguez (Ex-Galaxy MLS Player) and Francisco Mendoza (Chivas-USA MLS Player). Universal Soccer League is based in Fontana California and serves the surrounding cities of: Moreno Valley, Rialto, Colton, San Bernardino, Upland, Ontario, Indio, and Riverside.
